El YahWeh Riddim – Press Release

Press Release: Dexta Daps returns to his conscious roots across a brand new riddim by Mr Topple for Pauzeradio.com.

Jamaican Dancehall Superstar Dexta Daps takes the lead on the Train Line Records latest riddim. In a move that will surprise his avid fans and music critics alike, Daps has returned to his conscious roots across a reggae riddim that also features a whole host of other stars – including Lutan Fyah and Anthony B.

El Yah Weh Riddim is set to be released on 18 November via Train Line Records. It comes hot of the heels of the label’s previous offerings – which have included tracks from Busy Signal, Lutan Fyah and Anthony B. Train Line is already cementing itself as the outfit of choice for some of the biggest names in Jamaican music, and the El Yah Weh Riddim is no exception to this.
It’s that classic technique of merging elements of Soul with Reggae sensibilities, all while bringing some fresh elements to the mix.

“The riddim is quite superb: unfussy yet skilfully and beautifully constructed to make a rousing piece of music. There are classic Reggae devices at play – including the keys’ bubble rhythm, a drop-beat bass and some rapidly skanking guitars. However, what sets El Yah Weh Riddim apart is the lusciousness of the chord progressions, the attention to details in the engineering and the quality of the final mastering – all worthy of a major label”Mr Topple, Pauzeradio

The lead track from the riddim is provided by Daps. Called Blessings it is a genius move from Train Line to get this superstar Dancehall-RnB artist involved – because it provides fans and radio with a side to Daps not heard for a while. Soul-meets-Reggae across this uplifting, emotive and brooding track – where Daps uses his impressive vocal talents to their full capacity.
Then, a host of other artists provide their El Yah Weh interpretations. Lutan Fyah, Hopeton Lindo, Menny More, Norris Man x Anthony B, Perfect Giddimani, Pzed x Little Hero, and Young Shanty all feature. Train Line have brough-together a truly superb selection of artists, who individually bring some glorious interpretations to the overall riddim – all focusing on the conscious while being uniquely different.

El Yah Weh Riddim is a gloriously composed, expertly executed affair from all involved. With the tracks being just over 4:50, it is perfect for radio/streaming and the arrangement is such it would work equally well as part of a mix. It is essential listening this fall – and bodes very well for the future of Train Line Records.
