The New Pauzeradio Has Arrived
The new Pauzeradio website is here, bringing a completely refreshed design and a whole range of new features across the platform. This is not simply a reskinned WordPress website. We have built the new site from the ground up, creating a completely bespoke site around what Pauzeradio is today and where we want to take it next.
We are bringing our existing content across, but the platform itself is completely new. Reviews, artist biographies, interviews, reggae news, press releases, radio shows, downloads and services have all been rebuilt and reorganised, while new features including reader accounts, voting, charts and account activity have been added.
Faster and More Reliable
We have also completely overhauled everything behind the scenes. The old Pauzeradio had started to suffer from slow loading and periods of downtime, particularly when loading shows and larger amounts of content. The new setup has been built to make the site faster, more stable and much more reliable, so shows and articles should load more quickly without the problems we were experiencing before.
This has been one of the biggest parts of rebuilding from scratch. A lot of the work will never be visible on the screen, but it should make a big difference to how the site performs every day.
My Account
One of the other big additions is the accounts. To download a music mix, use our advertising services or order any of our artist services, you will need to create an account. Your downloads, orders and other activity will then be shown within your account, and you can also personalise it with your own account name and profile picture if you wish.
Vote and Discover
Reader voting is now built directly into our music reviews. The voting is not done by us at Pauzeradio, it is done by you, the reader. Registered users can rate singles, EPs and albums using our new six-star voting system, with those results feeding into our Singles and Albums Charts. Readers can only cast one vote per review.
EP votes will feed into the Album Chart, and once enough reader results begin coming in, chart results will also appear on our homepage. Every review starts off with 5 neutral reviews, so the reviews will not start on zero. The top-performing releases will be given greater visibility across the site, and how readers vote throughout the year will also help shape our end-of-year charts.
Read It or Listen Instead
Written content across Pauzeradio’s Reviews, Artists and Reggae News sections can now be listened to as well as read.
If you do not want to sit and read through a full article, you can simply press play and listen instead. That includes reviews, artist biographies, press releases, reggae news, interviews and other written content across those sections.
Reviews, Artists and Reggae News
Single, EP and Album Reviews now have dedicated sections, while Artist Biographies have their own section and Interviews, Press Releases and Pauzeradio News have been reorganised under Reggae News. Each category landing page also has its own search function, making it much easier to search within the particular section you are browsing.
The main site search in the header has also been completely improved. Unlike the search on the old version of the website, which could make it difficult to find the content you were actually looking for, the new search works properly across the site and makes finding older reviews, artists, news and other content much easier.
Artists can order a Music Review written in house at Pauzeradio, while Artist Biographies and Press Releases can currently be submitted by the artist or their representative for publication. We are not writing biographies or press releases as a service at this stage, although this is something we plan to introduce in the future. All submissions are manually reviewed before anything is published.
Radio Shows and Archives
The Radio Shows section and archives have also been completely revamped. All the old shows from Gav Pauze and Selector Stix are still there, giving listeners access to the existing archive through the new site.
There will also be new shows starting once the new website has launched. Reggae will remain a major part of us, but we will also be expanding into Jungle and Drum & Bass shows, opening the radio side of the platform up to more of the music that has always been part of our wider background.
Events, Advertising and Downloads
The new site introduces dedicated Event Listings and improved advertising options for promoters, artists, labels and businesses looking to reach the worldwide Pauzeradio audience. These services are connected to your account, making it easier to keep track of what you have ordered and your activity on the site.
Our Free Reggae Downloads section continues as before, but downloads are now connected to your account so you can keep track of what you have downloaded. DJs can also contact us if they have a suitable reggae mix they would like considered for inclusion, subject to our usual submission rules.
The Pauzeradio Shop
Our vinyl and CD shop has moved to eBay, with stock being added gradually. We currently have a lot of products to work through, so listings will be added in stages rather than everything appearing at once.
The eBay shop can be found through the Shop section in the main navigation, so it is worth following if there is a particular record or CD you have had your eye on.
A New Team Behind Pauzeradio
The website is not the only thing that has changed either. There is a new team working behind the scenes at Pauzeradio, bringing fresh ideas and helping us build what comes next. Gav Pauze is, of course, still here and remains at the heart of the platform.
The new site may carry much of the content people already know, but underneath it is a completely new platform built specifically for us. This gives us far more room to develop, add new features and continue building something that belongs to us rather than trying to work around the limitations of an old website.
Pauzeradio remains focused on what it always has been; reggae music, artists, listeners and the culture surrounding it, but this new site gives us the space to take that much further.
Welcome to the new Pauzeradio.
