UK-based artist YT is humbled to present his new EP. A collaboration with the legendary Oneness Records, it sees this seasoned Reggae/Dancehall trailblazer bring his sound, and message, bang up-to-date – while staying true to his own ‘roots’. But moreover, the EP as a whole delivers a searing and poignant social narrative for our time.

Moment For Change is being released on 7 May by Oneness Records. The six-track project sees YT, originally from the market town of Ipswich in England, expand his already broad sound even further. Moment for Change sees him and the Oneness team craft a rich and technically impressive record that transcends just Roots.

The record is pure Oneness: think swaggering, multi-layered horns; whining electric organs; deep and driven basslines, haunting and shrill guitars and purposeful, technically deft drums – and you have the label’s instantly recognisable sound in a nutshell; immersing itself across the EP.

From Don’t Shoot’s brooding, unsettling Hip Hop vibe to the title track’s memorable Reggae sound via Apreshelove’s modern take on Lover’s Rock (and the only love song of the EP) – Moment For Change offers an impressive and intricate diversity of sound. The EP takes the listener on a voyage of musical styles – with YT navigating a similarly eclectic path with his performances.

He sermonises with humble self-confidence our need for personal and spiritual ‘balance’ on the eponymous track; delivers a furious and explosively heart-felt performance on the previously released Pressure Buss, and then pares it back to a more reflective and haunting timbre on Say Nuttin

YT said of the EP:
“Moment For Change is a collection of songs that I have been working on for a while with the musical geniuses at Oneness.

To make it a journey as a listening experience, we have a variety of styles and subjects across the six tracks. But overall, it is an optimistic yet urgent message: for people who can see the current systems have failed for the majority, and to reinforce the idea that we need to find ways not to repeat some of the horrible mistakes we’ve made as a species”.
