Alborosie, whose real name is Alberto D’Ascola, is an Italian reggae artist, musician, and producer known for his distinctive blend of reggae music infused with elements of dancehall, dub, and roots reggae. Born on July 4, 1977, in Marsala, Sicily, Italy, he grew up in a vibrant musical environment with a deep appreciation for Jamaican culture and music.

Alborosie’s journey into music began at a young age when he first discovered the sounds of reggae and became fascinated by its rhythms and messages of social justice and spirituality. Inspired by legends such as Bob Marley, Burning Spear, and Peter Tosh, he began honing his skills as a musician, initially playing the guitar and later mastering a wide range of instruments, including bass, drums, keyboards, and percussion.

He gained experience in the Italian reggae band Reggae National Tickets, from Bergamo City, when he was 15 years old in 1993, in which he was known as Stena.

In his late teens, Alborosie made the life-changing decision to move to Jamaica, the birthplace of reggae music, to immerse himself in its culture and further pursue his musical aspirations. Settling in the gritty streets of Kingston, he quickly became a part of the local music scene, collaborating with various artists and producers while working odd jobs to sustain himself.
