His childhood was full of Jamaica’s cultural richness; music filled every aspect of life. Growing up in the Caribbean, he soaked up the sounds of roots and dancehall, as well as the consciousness that filled reggae at the time. Delus Biography: Delmark “Delus” Spence was a Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist who made a huge impact on the scene before his untimely death. Born on June 18, 1981, in Kingston, Jamaica, Delus grew up surrounded by music, his father was a musician and his mother a singer. This early exposure to music laid the foundation for Delus’s future career in the industry. Like his parents, Sizzla follows the Bobo Ashanti branch of the movement. He is well known as a prolific and influential figure in the world of reggae music. His stage name, “Sizzla,” was derived from the Rastafarian term “Sizzla,” which means “burning” or “to burn.” The culture and music of Jamaica deeply influenced Sizzla’s early life.
