Jah Marnyah

Erupting like the volcano of his home town Montserrat, the faya youth Jah Marnyah has taken the world by surprise. Born Euclid Skerritt in Plymouth, Montserrat he was nurtured by his grandmother as a youth in the small village of Salem and observed the growing Rastafari faith of the island.

To begin with he thought that one-man-on-yah but after deep meditation he realised Jah-man-on-yah where he got the name Jah Marnyah and has vowed to work for the Most High ever since. Whilst in Montserrat Jah Marnyah musically enlightened himself playing lead in school steel pan. As a result of the volcano he moved to England as a youth, where he built on the knowledge and experience of his life and became an unforgettable reggae sing-jay, songwriter. On his journey he was inspired by Montserrat’s Penny man & General Ski not to mention the militant reggae warriors Richie Spice, Luciano, Jah Mason, and Jah Cure.

Jah Marnyah has collaborated with great artist’s like Diamond, Iyahkayah and sang with notorious bands; BDF (Basque Dub Foundation from Spain) and Duppy Conquerors. Some of his dub records which have been sold & loved internationally including ‘Anointed One’, ‘Fuss & Fight’ and ‘I try’ have all been released on the scoops label, showing his versatility in all aspects of music. Jah Marnyah is an artist regularly welcomed in Spain, France, Holland & UK always leaving the people yearning for more of his conscious lyrics and his remarkable stage performances. His style is totally unique especially being blessed with the talent to sing in many ranges and DJ shortly after, with clear astonishing melodies. With the blessing from his Most High creator Emperor Haile Selassie I, Jah Marnyah always seeks to portray a positive message in his songs.

Jah Marnyah has also been working closely with many sound systems like UK based ‘Vibronics’, ‘IBI’, Spain’s main reggae sound system ‘Roots Seeker’, ‘One Draw’, ‘JNR’, Roots Garden not for getting his own sound system shared with brother Hare Jordon & I Shenks. This passionate reggae sing-jay is someone to look out for, especially with new releases ‘Oh Jah,’ on Catskills label and ‘Stormy Weathers,’ on Roots Garden label “prepare yourself because you might get blown over”.
