Imar Shephard

Imar Shephard is a Jamaican singer songwriter who was born and raised in Richmond Gap, Saint Thomas. Surrounded by the beautiful Blue Mountains, on the Eastern side of the Island. Born Jamaican, inevitably makes reggae music the foundation of most every native artists’ repertoire.

However, having grown in the church the exposure to Gospel, Jazz and Rock music have seeped into Imar Shephard’s blood and pump out in a style of composition that is distinctively his own.

Imar Shepard’s voice has been described as smooth and enchanting by media pundits on both sides of the Atlantic, further statements concur that there has to be at least one of Imar Shephard’s songs that on hearing touches the soul and makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end.

The artist says he first found his voice working on the coffee plantations as a young boy. Growing up in the hills is not as glamourous as Westerners may imagine. There were days when his mother, a coffee farmer couldn’t afford to send Imar and his sister to school and so she would take the youngster to work with her. Imar says he used to sing to pass the time and bear the monotony of standing on his little feet for hours under the sun or in the rain picking tiny coffee beans one by one. Even as a little boy, when Imar Shephard sang those around him listened or joined in. Bringing light relief and hope to the tired bodies and weary souls of so many good people.

With two Ep’s securely under his belt and countless live performances in Jamaica, the USA and Saint Kitts Imar Shephard is currently putting the finishing gloss to his debut album. The album consists of eleven self penned passionate tracks that are biographically emotive and a real insight into the up and downs of the artist’s rise through the ranks from relative unknown to household name. Having had to push back it’s release date due to a split with one time manager H. Brown [Nyah Bless Music] and subsequent near fatal car accident the artist has been busy promoting his talent overseas with a recent three month successful road trip to the United Kingdom.

And so the long awaited ‘Imar Shephard Live & Unleashed’ looks set for release early in the New Year. Imar Shephard’s dulcet tones, harmonic runs and lyrical narratives will no doubt tenderly draw in the audiences from their listening zones across the globe to feel his soul as raw and real as it can possibly be.
