Free Reggae Download 2020 – Press Release

Free Reggae Download 2020 – Press Release by Steve Topple for Pauzeradio.com.

At Pauzeradio, we know times are tough for a lot people at present. The world is in the grip of a global pandemic. Life has changed in so many ways, for so many of us. But often it’s the smallest gestures that can make all the difference.

That’s why, in light of so many people being on ‘lockdown’, Pauzeradio has decided to make DJ Pauze’s latest edition of the Unique Reggae Mix Show totally free to download. And what’s more, the special 2020 Roots and Dub Edition offers some musical comfort, hope and insight in these times of unprecedented crisis.

DJ Pauze has handpicked a selection of some of the freshest, most unique cuts to be released this year. He’s coupled that with some instantly recognisable classics. And the end result is a perfect listening experience to warm your soul and sooth your mind.
As always, the show is divided up into four separate parts. And listen carefully, because DJ Pauze’s insightful mixing not only seamlessly links one artist to another, but also provides a rousing narrative throughout.

The first segment of the Free Reggae Download 2020 opens with the legendary Cedric Myton. He has recently released A New Race. It’s a deep foray into Roots territory with a pertinent message about species-level change. So – it makes the perfect opener for show #410. Other tracks in part one include a series from legendary Father of the melodica Augustus Pablo, from his soon to be re-released double album Ancient Harmonies. Also included are the 2006 Red Out Deh riddim, I David’s recent offering Chain Gang Dub and two tracks from Mykal Rose – 12 years apart.

Segment two kicks off to a fine start with six tracks from Mark Wonder’s latest album Remz of the Dragon Slayer. It’s a finely tuned, well-constructed release and its potent mix of genres, messages and styles fits perfectly with Pauzeradio’s ethos. Next, part two takes a look back at some of Jah Servant’s releases from 2014 onwards; the bang-up-to-date (and extremely pertinent) Pack Up And Go (Covid19) from Fireball, two tracks from Uwe Banton’s 2006 release Jah Roots and a brand new track from Uwe Banton called Speak The Truth, released via RastaYard Records.

Into segment three, and DJ Pauze has selected some highly appropriate tracks. Not least among these is a selection of Mikey General offerings (listen to Mister Sun’s message). We also visit Marcus Gad’s recent and mesmerising album Rhythm of Serenity, Jah9’s March release Note to Self and Preppie Records recent Longtime African riddim. Nestled among these are some works by Errol Bellot for Reality Shock Records and the brilliant Rob Symeonn.

Finally, segment four focuses on several artists in particular: Oba Simba, with DJ Pauze showcasing some works from his stunning latest album The Arrival; Winston McAnuff’s various collaborations with producers extraordinaire Bost & Bim; a selection of cuts from Brother Culture’s 2015 release All A We; four works from Akae Beka and two big tracks from Singing Bee. Episode #410 of the Unique Reggae Mix Show closes with Camhaj’s Hail To The King; a fitting ending for a glorious two hours of music.
