Akae Beka – Livicated – Press Release

Akae Beka Livicated is a timeless Rastafari roots reggae album for the now and for the future.

Livicated pairs the majestic Zion I Kings sound with the voice and the lyrical content of Vaughn Benjamin, creating a finely woven tapestry of incredible musical textures. Livicated blends incisive and biting social commentary with prayerful entreaties to better living through faith and good works.

Produced by ZIK bassist, Jah David, Livicated is Akae Beka’s debut release on the Zion High Productions label. The album features solid, original riddim tracks that are composed and arranged by the Zion I Kings family, with music contributions from Aston Barrett Jr. on drums, Jah Bless on horns, Chet Samuel on the guitar, and the legendary Yami Bolo playing the melodica. One thing that is particularly striking on Livicated are the strident, Burning Spear-like horn arrangements and the variety and range of Drew Keys keyboard voices.

The twelve songs of Akae Beka Livicated unfold like a panorama of shapes and colours comprising our contemporary human predicament. Break down the boundaries and rise to the occasion… be fully livicated.
